Tarot Cards

Design of a tarot deck. Inspired by the Tarot of Marseille and with the help of a tarot reader, we interpreted the symbolism of the cards to create our own designs.
Based on the symbology of each card we designed the illustrations from scratch. We decided to use the two main colors of The Nicki Mads, black and pink, which also give the deck an aura of mysticism.
Process
Understanding the cards
The design process began with a thorough analysis of tarot symbology. To do this we counted with the help of a tarot reader who explained us the symbology of each card as well as the elements that should appear in all of them.
Designing the illustrations
As a first phase we focused on the design of the Major Arcana as they are not only the most important cards but also the most symbolic and consequently the most difficult to make. Next, based on this design, we created the rest of the cards, the Minor Arcana. We decided to respect the traditional tarot format in terms of card size and typography and reinterpret only the illustrations.
